Celebration kicked off this year's Kids' Camp Olympics last night! It was fun to see the room full of people who have been part of Kids' Camp in the past along with some NEW faces that will be experiencing it for the first time :) It will be an adventure as always!
There are many things I'm excited about with Kids' Camp, but today I'll share a couple with you:
1. This year's theme through drama and the large group - During large group, the kids (and I'm hoping the adults too!) will walk away from Kids' Camp knowing that God loves us for who we are and that He made us just right. The goal is for us to recognize the gifts God has given us were designed for us...by HIM...and to be confident in what He has given us. It's easy to see the gifts He has given others, easy to see what they're good at and hard to see what's good about ourselves. The goal is for kids to be confident in who God made them to be. The theme verse is Psalm 139:14 NCV, "I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way!" I'm so loving this verse! I'm way past camper age, but I'm anxious to be reminded even as an adult that God made me who I am! This is what He designed for me to be! I don't have to wish I was like someone else because I've been given gifts from the Creator...how could I possibly want something different than what He has picked out for me?!?!
2. I love to see where people end up serving - Some people know exactly what they're good at and get right to it. Some people are open and flexible to do whatever and go wherever is needed. Some people are stepping out of comfort zones and trying something new this year. Either way, I'm just excited people are serving. :)
Are you reading this and thinking, "Kids are not my thing. I could never do Kids' Camp!" If you were part of January's message series, then you know I might follow that up with "No excuses!" When I say we've got something for everyone, I really mean...We have something for everyone! :) We have roles from "zero contact with kids" to roles "no way, no how can you possibly get away from them." In case you missed the meeting, this week's bulletin will list teams that still have spots to fill.
One thing we all can do is PRAY! We'd love for you to pray for Kids' Camp and here are a few specifics to include:
